Ebony-haired, ruby-lipped Caitrina Lamont defies him, denies him, and arouses him like no other woman. Caitrina has no intention of forsaking her beloved father and doting brothers for a husband—especially a hated Campbell. Can their tenuous truce, born in the velvet darkness of passionate nights, forge a love as strong as the sword that rules the Highlands?

Caitrina is a perfect heroine feisty and feminine. They have excellent chemistry and it is a love story you will want to read over and over again. Everything that the characters experience you as the reader will experience as well.
This book often had me horribly angry, frightened, amused and even more, on the brink of tears. In the beginning the heroine is cute and charming and you love her, but as the hero points out more of her faults, you begin to see them as well and just before her big change, you almost become annoyed with her. But then everything in her life changes, and she becomes a different version of herself, someone you can relate with more. The hero is a strong handsome duh, it's a romance very loyal man.
You can understand the heroines issues with how he sees the world and why she wants him to change, but you can also see his point of view. A main component in this novel is the lines between right and wrong, and whether or not there is a grey area. This is deeply explored through their experiences and the reader can even find themselves wondering who they should side with.
And the sex scenes are hot too!! All in all this is a wonderful book, Ms. McCarty's best yet! I'm a Monica McCarty fan. Which is where my path crossed with this book. Ah, if I were a less particular person, I would actually consider ripping this book apart. I think I would have, just that I have an ebook. Deleting it wasn't violent enough This book is SO bad, it's not even funny.
Well, this one makes you want to cut their tongues off, too, so that they can never say another hateful thing. It won't impair their desire to spend every spare moment having sex, cos that's what they seem to do anyway. HERO: Bossy. Not sexy, hon.
I can't even be bothered typing their names. Don't read this one, save yourself some valuable time that you could spend, I don't know, cleaning the toilet, maybe? I fully intended to love this book. I had been wanting to read a "Highland hero" book, but without magic or vampires or time-travel, and the ultra-high ratings at GR and elsewhere convinced me to give this author a try. I didn't hate the book; I hated the heroine. And I didn't much like the hero either.
Both are stubborn, overly proud, and uncommunicative. I found myself skimming pages and pages of introspection, where each of them admits to themselves that they've done the wrong thing, but they take a damn long time to admit it to one another. The plot was rather good, but the book could have been about pages shorter with less of this interior monologue.
Even the very hot! I can't believe I just said that. I think, however, that the problem is really my own: I prefer my historicals to be in the 18th or 19th centuries rather than in more primitive times. Scotland in is just too rough, violent, and riddled with hatred for me to enjoy. Regency London and the ton seems to be just my cup of tea. AUTHOR: As with any historical fiction romance author, Monica has done a great job researching the history that is the basis and foundation of this book.
She has written a very sexy and passionate Scottish adventure. He is laird over the MacLeod clan and she is a MacDonald. He wants revenge from her uncle. Her idea is to commit to the handfasting and trick him into divulging secrets by making him fall in love with her. Now READ! In Highland Warrior, Jamie Campbell is a enforcer of justice, and is wanting to know the location of Alistair of the MacGregor clan that are outlaws, and knows that since the Lamont Clan had close ties to the MacGregor clan, he plans on finding where Alisdair is being hidden.
So he plans on wooing the sweet Caitrina who mesmerizes his body and soul. He finds himself drawn to her like a moth to a flame. He knows that even though there is a ulterior motive to him courting Caitrina, after tasting her sweet kisses, he knows that there is a connection between them that can't be denied.
Caitrina Lamont has three brothers and a father that she loves dearly, and she knows that she doesn't want to settle down and marry. She is content until she meets the compelling highland warrior that entices her with tender embraces and a passion she finds within in that she didn't know existed. But her hopes come crashing down when her beautiful serene world falls apart and loses all of her family and her clan driven out, she knows Jamie's cousin is responsible, but will their feelings toward one another be strong enough to endure the coming challenges?
I truly loved this and had it read in a couple of hours, since I just read it non stop, without stopping. The pages flew by so fast since I was so entranced into this beautiful love story.
I truly loved Caitrina and Jamie. Jamie fights for justice and hunts down outlaws, however all that he is and believes in will be challenged after he connects with his one true love.
Caitrina, after losing her family and almost being killed herself, never suspected to see Jamie again. However when he proposes marriage to her in return he will help her rebuild her clan, she knows she has a duty to her people. But this arrangement hold many surprises that will teach this handsome couple the meaning and importance of loving and trusting amidst a dangerous world.
I have loved reading from this author, she writes such compelling scottish romances that touch the soul. You will never be disappointed with Monica McCarty.

Before I do anything I must give mad props to Monica for the amount of research she has put into her tales and to Ballantine. At a time when many publishers are cutting pages, word count, and more it is beyond delightful to see Ballantine allowing an author pages to show she did her homework and provide some background to readers who would like to know more. The Lamont has decided it is time for his daughter to marry and the Highland gathering at Ascog would be the perfect place for her to find a husband, at least that is the hope. Jamie knows the last thing Lamont would want is his daughter married into a clan he has been feuding with for years. Hopefully the unease will make finding the outlaws that much easier. I had a tough time getting into Highland Warrior for a few reasons.
Raw physical strength coupled with cunning political acumen make him a powerful force with whom few men will dare to reckon. But guise turns to desire when he meets the beautiful spitfire who rules the household with a dainty iron fist. The fierce Highlander never expects that the woman he wants above all others will test his duty and loyalty to his clan to the breaking point. Cosseted and adored by her family, Caitrina Lamont has no intention of abandoning her beloved father and doting four older brothers for a husband—especially a Campbell. His raw masculinity threatens her in a way no man ever had before. An Excerpt From Chapter One : Our heroine manages to find herself stuck in a tree, wearing only a sark shift , and about to be deserted by her younger brother, Brian. Caitrina took a moment to catch her breath and steady her heartbeat, then started to work her way down.
