But this village has not been blessed with plenty of rains since many years,so people don't have any source to live, hence the whole village migrates to another place You really don't wish to leave this book in between, the whole scene is so excellently created by the writer that you start imagining it in front of your eyes,as you go on reading.

Mar 02, Vitesh Shah rated it really liked it. It is quite a small book. The story is quite simple. The village is very remote and thus lacks basic facilities. The book is able to document the thinking of these people, their struggles and how dependent they are on nature for their survival.
Really a good intro to life of these people. The language is a bit tough as it sometimes uses dialect of Marathi used by these people. View all 4 comments.

It's a book about the time that this teacher spends in this village trying to first gather the students and teach them while also trying to make a place for himself in the hearts of the people of the village. And though I kind of liked the book, it didn't make me go Wow.

I like the original sung by Ghulam Ali and one Hari Haran sang too. The tune is awesome, but the lyrics are amazing as well. Like everything worth doing, it gets better with time. Reading good stuff has the same experience. Some books are to be read and some are to be reread several times. Vyankatesh Madgulkar was a talented writer, artist and hunter. He taught himself to read English so that he can enjoy works in English. His strength as an observer of nature and people is seen in Bangarwadi.
I love the way he plays magic with the language. Beauty in the mundane is savory. Descriptions of latching calves reminds summer vacations in Sindhudurga. For the same reason Bangarwadi is a long poem. Sep 26, Neelima rated it liked it. Amazing book
